Despois de ver tantas veces a Tbilisi con ollos de turista, a sensación de saber que esta será a túa casa durante o próximos nove meses é estraña, pero moi emocionante.
A primeira vez que visitei Xeorxia foi en maio de 2016, e desde entón namoreime por completo do ambiente deste país, a beleza das súas paisaxes e a hospitalidade das súas xentes. Foi así como, xunto cos coordinadores de DRONI (a miña entidade de acollida), empezamos a redactar o borrador dun SVE conectado coas zonas rurais e o empoderamiento xuvenil en Xeorxia e, tras meses de espera e preparación, aterrei en Tbilisi o 3 de novembro. É hora de empezar a aventura!
Desfacer maletas, comprar produtos básicos no mercado, empezar a comparar prezos e adoitarse aos Lari (moeda xeorxiana) foron os primeiros pasos para empezar a construír un novo fogar no Cáucaso. Por suposto, ter xa algúns amigos aquí axuda moito e permíteche empezar a sentirche cómoda moito máis rápido, pero estes días tamén coñecín ao resto de voluntarios cos que compartirei os próximos 9 meses.
Co comezo da nova semana tamén comezaron as reunións e a planificación das actividades do SVE, e agora toca establecer obxectivos persoais, identificar resultados de aprendizaxe e empezar a gozar da “experiencia xeorxiana”.
The Georgian experience
After so many times seeing Tbilisi through the eyes of a tourist, the feeling of being back for full 9 months is strange, yet exciting. I visited Georgia for the first time in May 2016, and ever since fell in love with the vibe of the country, the beauty of the landscape and the warmth of the people. That’s how, together with the coordinators from DRONI (my hosting NGO) we started drafting the idea of an EVS connected with rural areas and youth empowerment in Georgia. After months of waiting and preparing everything, I arrived to Tbilisi on 3rd of November. It’s time to start the adventure!
Unpacking, buying staples in the market, start comparing prices and getting used to Lari (georgian coin) were some of the first steps towards creating a new home in Caucasus. Of course, having already some friends here helps a lot and allows you to feel comfortable quicker, but I also met with other volunteers with whom I will be spending at least the next 9 months.
With the start of the new week, the meetings and planning of the EVS content also started, and now is time to establish personal goals, identify learning outcomes and start enjoying the “Georgian experience”!
